How to clean a projector filter

January 28, 2015

Projectors contain various mechanisms to keep it running properly, including a filter that catches dust and dirt before the particles can enter the projector’s components. To keep the device from overheating, it is important to clean your NEC projector’s filter when the “Clean Filter” message appears.

Instructions

Cleaning the Filter

  • Turn off your NEC projector by flipping the power switch on the back of the device. Unplug the projector’s power cord.
  • Locate the projector’s filter which you will find located on the back right corner of the device. Lift the filter up and out of the device by its grooved edge.
  • Use a soft-bristled brush to remove any lint and dust from both sides of the filter, or use a vacuum cleaners hose attachment to remove lint and dust from the filter
  • Place the filter back into your NEC projector, plug in the device’s power cord and power on the projector. The filter will only slide back into the projector if it is properly aligned.

Resetting the Filter Usage Time

  • Press the “Menu” button on the NEC projector’s remote control. Navigate to the “Default” setting using the down arrow button.
  • Press the right arrow button to navigate to the “Clear Filter Usage” option. Press “Enter.”
  • Select “Yes” to confirm you want to reset the filter usage time. Press “Enter” to complete the process.
