A Visual Presenter is...
...a tabletop stage, about the size of a cereal box, with a camera positioned above it. Often there are stage lights to assist in illuminating the stage and whatever items are placed upon it. Now it gets interesting because... almost anything (smaller than a cereal box) can be placed on the stage. Maps, textbooks, transparencies, earthworms, forensic evidence, souffles... The camera will focus in on the item, zoom in if you prefer, and then the things you can do with the image you have of that stage!
If you want to keep your little stage show local, you can connect it to a TV, or a monitor or a digital projector and really give those folks in the room an eyeful. If you're looking for greater exposure, you can send over your lan or over the web.
Who uses them?
- In school, science teachers demonstrate labs and dissections
- Amongst hospitals, lab professionals collaborate visually with electronic slides and xrays.
- In city council meetings, visiting presenters and council members can easily present photos, proposals, and maps.
- In courtrooms (like the OJ Simpson case), lawyers can present evidence that everyone in the courtroom can see.
